Dr Alex Mermikides is Doctoral Programme Leader at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her research explores the interface between contemporary performance and biomedical science, medicine and healthcare. Recent publications include Performance and the Medical Body (2016) and the forthcoming Performance, Medicine and the Human (both Methuen Bloomsbury). She runs Chimera, an arts/research network that creates performances on medical themes, often in collaboration with scientists.
